Is Turkey About to Invade Iraq?

Fears of a regional war could be coming true. I expect BushCo to blame Bill Clinton for this mess.

Turkey has sent large contingents of reinforcement soldiers, tanks and armored personnel carriers to its border with Iraq as debate heated up over whether to stage a cross-border offensive to hit Kurdish rebel bases.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday urged the United States and Iraq to destroy bases of the Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, in northern Iraq as Turkish military deployed more tanks and soldiers on the border.

Turkey fears an autonomous Kurdistan, because their own Kurdish territory might revolt to join it. Oh what a mess bush has made!

Turkey is trying to get into the EU all this saber rattling is sincere, but I think it is more that they hope the US will intervene and tell the EU to admit Turkey if it stops its aggressive speeches.

Yes, Turkey is worried aboiut its Kurd population, but I see palns within plans.

I'm a big fan of Turkey, Chuq is right, they are keen to get into the EU and will only do whatever is needed to defend their interests and land.

The US and it's allies should be looking towards to Turkey as an example of secular Islamic democracy.

Damn it, now we will have to include Turkey in with Iran and Syria for the same successful regime change that we have done in Iraq. Who is with me?! Anyone... anyone?

This have gotten so f*#ked up, I don't even truly know what to say about our involvement in the Middle East. I say just write an amendment into our Constitution that is a restraining order for us to stay more than 100 miles from any Middle Eastern country.
